Hello I'm Laura, Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, Clinical Supervisor, daughter, wife and mum of three energetic boys. With a Bachelor of Social Work and a Masters of Applied Social Science Counselling, I have worked across a diverse range of settings providing counselling support to children, adults and families for over fifteen years.

No one's life is perfect, no individual is perfect. Every now and then, we're all thrown a curve ball that disrupts our internal equilibrium and threatens our mental health/wellbeing. For some, this may happen on the odd occasion, whilst for others, this sense of unbalance is more of a permanent state. Either way, we are not immune to adversity, nor should we be immune to seeking help to get through it. Adverse experiences (as much as we try to avoid them) are what help us to grow and gain insight into our own strengths, capabilities and resilience. As a modern society we are constantly being challenged by external stressors such as:

* the increase cost of living/financial pressure

* the parental load/juggling work and child rearing

* the false perfection portrayed on social media

* relationship challenges

* the residual effects of COVID-19 such as job loss, family breakdown, chronic illness

Such stressors can lead to new (and sometimes unexpected) cases of anxiety and depression. For those already living with a diagnosed mental illness, the impact may be tenfold.

I have spent over fifteen years treating individuals and families with a vast range of presentations. These include, complex trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, Attention Deficit Disorder, Suicidality, Non-Suicidal Self Injury, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and much more. As a mother, I am really passionate about supporting women throughout the perinatal period. Motherhood starts in preconception and is forever more (even if your baby has grown angel wings and left this earth). I support women through all stages of motherhood, from those who are thinking about starting a family, to those who want some parental guidance and support for their children or teenagers.

As you share your story throughout your sessions, I'll offer you a range of tools and strategies to help you regain control over your mental health/wellbeing. Whether we tackle your issues with CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) or IEP (Intention-Based Energy Process) just to name a few, your treatment plan will be customised to meet your individual needs.

  • It’s a privilege to practice along side an incredibly passionate and talented group of women. Women supporting woman, empowering our clients to be the best version of themselves.

  • The truth is I’m terrible at remembering quotes! I’ll read or hear one that I love and that resonates, I’ll tell myself that I couldn’t possible forget such a great quote……but I always do!

  • I’m passionate about supporting every individual, family or couple that walks through my door. Everyone deserves to be heard without judgement. I’m passionate about the therapeutic relationship as trust and empathy are what breaks down defences and leads to growth and peace.

  • It’s not meant to be easy, block out all the advice/noise/opinions around you, listen to your gut it knows what’s best, you’re doing a great job.

  • Following the loss of my father at the age of 11, I had a traumatic ‘counselling’ experience from a non-qualified individual at my school, and I never wanted a child to ever have to go through that in the future.
