The Birth Prep Workshop

  • The Village Collective Shop 70 - 72, 189 Ocean View Road Ettalong Beach, NSW Australia (map)

Preparing Your Mind & Body for Birth

The Birth Prep Workshop is a unique, hands-on workshop designed for women and their birthing partners in their second and third trimester who want to feel strong in their body, calm in their mind and confident in their ability to birth - with a clear toolkit they (and their partner) know how to use.

This workshop bridges the gap between knowing about birth and feeling ready for it.

You’ll learn:

  • Exactly what exercises and movement to focus on in pregnancy

  • How to use breath, acupressure, and positioning to support your body

  • What’s happening physiologically during labour and how to work with it

  • Practical, proven tools you and your partner can confidently use during birth

It’s informative, empowering and genuinely fun.

A truly collaborative birth preparation experience

This workshop is guided by a collaborative team of experienced practitioners, bringing together their expertise in one cohesive, supportive session:

  • A Doula

  • A Midwife

  • An Acupuncture-trained midwife

  • A Mumsafe birth & postpartum exercise specialist

Rather than separate appointments or siloed information, everything is woven together — so you leave feeling physically prepared, mentally grounded, and reassured that your body knows what to do.

Not your typical antenatal class

This is not a sit-and-listen workshop.

You and your partner will move, practise, try the tools, ask questions, and feel it all in your body.

You’ll leave with:

  • Clarity (no more guessing what to do)

  • Confidence in your body

  • A partner who knows exactly how to support you

  • And a practical toolkit you can use in pregnancy and during labour

What we’ll cover

This workshop is intentionally structured into two clear sections so everything feels easy to understand, practise, and apply.

Section One: Preparing your mind & body for birth

(Pregnancy Preparation for Second & Third Trimester)

In this first session, you’ll learn how to prepare your body and nervous system during pregnancy, with tools you can continue using right up until labour begins.

You’ll be guided through:

  • Birth-supportive exercises and movement to build strength, mobility and endurance

  • Floor-based and birth ball exercises you can safely practise at home

  • Movement that supports:

    • Growing strength where your body needs support

    • Opening and mobility through the pelvis

    • Releasing tension in the hips, back and pelvic area

  • Understanding how your muscles adapt during pregnancy and prepare for birth

  • Simple, effective breathwork to support relaxation, calm and nervous system regulation

  • Birth preparation acupressure points (including partner practice) to support the body in the weeks leading into birth

This section gives you clarity around what to practise, why it matters, and how to move forward feeling supported rather than overwhelmed.

Section Two: Understanding birth & using these tools in labour

(Physiology, Movement, Acupressure & Labour Support)

This section begins by grounding you in what your body is doing during labour and how to work with it not against it.

You’ll explore:

  • A clear, reassuring understanding of the physiology of birth

  • How labour progresses and what supports it

  • The fear–tension–pain cycle, how it can impact labour and practical ways to avoid or soften it

From here, everything becomes practical and embodied.

You’ll then experience and practise:

  • A simple labour movement circuit, including:

    • Birth ball exercises

    • Key labour and resting positions

  • Partner support for movement, positioning and comfort

  • Using acupressure in labour for support and relief

  • How and when to use a TENS machine, including pad placement

  • Using a birthing sling / rebozo for comfort, release and support

  • Breath and mindset tools for staying grounded, focused and supported during intensity

This section helps everything come together so when labour begins, your body and mind recognise what to do.

You’ll be supported by a collaborative team

This workshop is held by a small, experienced team offering complementary support:

  • Kathryn (Doula) - guiding the flow, breathwork, labour tools, positions and confidence-building support

  • Midwife - providing clear, reassuring insight into birth physiology and what supports labour progress

  • Acudeedling Midwife - teaching acupressure for both pregnancy preparation and labour, including partner techniques

  • Birth & Postpartum Exercise Specialist - leading safe, effective movement to prepare the body for birth and support recovery-informed strength

What’s included

  • 2.5-hour small-group workshop

  • Hands-on practice with movement, breathwork, acupressure, birth ball, TENS machine & sling

  • Take-home resources you can continue using at home

  • Tea and light nourishment

  • Time for questions and personalised support
