Child + Family Health

Most of your child’s brain structure is developed before they turn 5 years old. These early days set the foundation for how well they will do in school and right through their lives.
This is why it’s very important your child has their health and development checked regularly by a health professional from birth and up to 5 years old.
Regular health and development checks are important to track your child’s growth and help us discover potential issues early. It is easier to fix the brain while it is still developing than when problems occur later in life.

Plus you can always do with easy access to professional advice when it comes to the unpredictable challenges that pop up throughout your first year with baby (and beyond!)

Parenting Workshops

We have a mixture of Masterclasses (monthly) and regular parenting workshops aimed at families navigating a range of challenges.

From introducing solids to their baby to understanding their child’s emotional needs, working through relationship changes that come from parenting young children, and many more useful topics we have dedicated and passionate practitioners wanting to share their knowledge with our community.

Baby Massage Courses

Baby massage is a very practical tool for parents that has many benefits - not just physically, but emotionally and neurologically.

There are many baby massage courses offered through The Village Collective - check them out here.

Our IBCLC Lactation Consultant is the go-to person for anything regarding your babies growth and their feeding needs.

Lactation consultants are not limited to breastfeeding challenges, but any questions a parent has on their child’s growth and feeding - that includes pumping, solids, formula and bottle feeding too.

Sleep + Settling

Our child and family health appointments can cover your sleep and settling questions too. Our service offers practical and evidence-based support to families that is not sleep training.

Our practitioners are holistic sleep trained and work on neuroprotective developmental care principles - meaning we use biological sleep regulators, optimising family sleep because we care about both you and your child’s mental health!

Postpartum Day Stay

For families finding the newborn stage challenging, we have a day stay opportunity with our Child + Family Health Midwife / IBCLC Lactation Consultant and Postpartum Doula.

We hold and support you throughout an entire day. Multiple feeds are able to be observed and gently supported by Harriet. You will be nourished and nurtured by Kathryn. Your general practitioner (GP) or family doctor is the person to see if
your child is sick, or if you have any concerns about your child’s wellbeing. A GP provides primary health care, referrals to specialists and, where necessary, coordinates your child’s health care.

A paediatrician can provide specialist health care for your child. You need a referral from a GP to make an appointment with a paediatrician.
