Holistic Sleep Consulting

Sleep Support, Led by a Health Professional

Holistic, individualised sleep support for babies, toddlers, and breastfeeding families — grounded in clinical expertise, not sleep training.

Not sleep training. Not a schedule in a box.

Sleep is one of the areas that causes parents the most anxiety — and one of the most searched, most conflicting topics in early parenting. At The Village Collective, our Sleep Consultations sit in the space between generic sleep training and simply not knowing where to turn.

We don't offer sleep training, behaviour modification programs, or one-size-fits-all schedules. Every family and every child is different, and generic advice can miss what's actually going on for your baby. Instead, we start by understanding your individual child — ruling out any underlying medical, developmental, or feeding-related reasons for disrupted sleep — before working with you on a plan that's genuinely tailored to your family.

Why work with a health professional for sleep

Unlike many sleep consultants, your consultation is provided by a qualified Midwife, IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant), and Child & Family Health nurse — not a sleep coach without clinical training. This means:

  • Underlying causes of poor sleep (feeding issues, airway or breathing issues, intolerances/allergies, tongue ties, medical concerns) are considered and can be identified or referred on appropriately

  • Advice is grounded in infant development, feeding, and biologically normal sleep — not generic scripts

  • Breastfeeding and your feeding relationship are supported and protected, not worked around

Our approach

Support draws on the Possums approach and Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC), alongside qualifications from Karitane in Child and Family Health, and years of clinical experience supporting families.

This means education about what normal infant and toddler sleep actually looks like, an understanding of your baby's development and biology, and support that helps you respond to your child in the way that feels right for your family — rather than a program designed to change how you choose to respond to them or their behaviour.

Meet Harriet

In Harriet's words:

"I've been where you are — wanting to keep responding to my baby intuitively, using breastfeeding as a sleep tool, but also needing some support to make sleep feel more manageable. That's exactly why I've focused my clinical career on supporting families with sleep, as a mother who has gently parented three boys of my own.

My focus is on helping you understand your baby's sleep and development, so you can feel confident and informed in the choices you make for your family. I draw on sleep science, infant development, and attachment research, and try to keep things simple and practical.

There's no sleep training here — just support to help you understand your child, feel more confident, and get back to enjoying your days together."
