Preparing Your Mind & Body for Birth
A Full-Day Birth Prep Course for You and Your Birth Partner | 9am – 4pm
Because preparing for birth should be about more than just information.
Imagine spending a day learning from experienced birth professionals, understanding how your mind and body works, practising techniques with your birth partner and discovering tools that can make a real difference during labour.
Led by a Home & Hospital Birth Midwife, Birth Doula and Pre & Postnatal MumSafe Personal Trainer, this practical, hands-on workshop brings together expert knowledge, movement, breathwork and real-life birth preparation.
You'll leave feeling informed, more confident and equipped with practical tools you can use throughout pregnancy and birth.
Why couples choose this workshop
Birth isn't just something you learn about. It's something you move through, respond to and experience in your body.
Understanding the physiology of labour is important, but actually practising the tools is what helps build confidence.
Throughout the day, you'll:
✓ Understand what's happening in your body during labour and how to support the natural birth process.
✓ Discover practical ways to prepare your body and mind for birth.
✓ Practise movements, positions and stretches to support comfort and mobility during labour.
✓ Explore hands-on comfort measures and pain relief options.
✓ Learn breathing and relaxation techniques to help you stay calm and focused.
✓ Give your birth partner the confidence and practical skills to actively support you.
✓ Have the opportunity to ask questions and learn directly from experienced birth professionals.
This isn't a day of sitting and listening. It's a day of learning, moving, practising and preparing together.
Learn From Three Experienced Practitioners
One of the things that makes our Birth Prep Workshop so special is the opportunity to learn from three experienced practitioners, each bringing their own knowledge and practical skills.
✓ Home & Hospital Birth Midwife — Understanding labour physiology, the stages of birth and how to navigate the birth process.
✓ Birth Doula — Practical labour support, comfort measures, positioning, breathwork and techniques to help your birth partner feel confident and involved.
✓ Pre & Postnatal MumSafe Personal Trainer — Pelvic and pelvic floor health, movement, stretching and preparing your body for pregnancy and birth.
Together, we'll help you understand the birth process and discover the tools that feel right for you.
What you’ll learn and areas we work through thoughout the day:
Part 1 - Understanding Labour
Understanding what is happening inside your body can make birth feel much less overwhelming.
✓ Discover the physiology of labour and how your body works during birth.
✓ Understand the stages of labour and what you might experience along the way.
✓ Meet the hormones of birth and learn how to support their natural flow.
✓ Explore how your birth environment can influence your experience.
✓ Understand your pain relief options so you can make informed decisions.
Part 2 - Movement, Pelvic Health & Preparing Your Body for Birth
Your body is doing something incredible, and understanding how it works can make such a difference to how you prepare for birth.
In this practical, hands-on session, you'll discover how to work with your body during pregnancy and labour, building confidence in movement, positioning and preparing your pelvis for birth.
Here's what you'll learn:
✓ Understand your pelvis and the important role it plays during labour and birth.
✓ Discover how your pelvic floor works and why both strength and relaxation matter.
✓ Practise movements and stretches to help prepare your body for birth.
✓ Explore labour positions and movements that can encourage comfort, mobility and space for your baby to move through the pelvis.
✓ Learn how to use movement during labour to work with your contractions and support your baby's journey.
✓ Understand perineal massage and how it may help prepare the tissues for birth.
✓ Discover safe ways to stay active during pregnancy, including when to modify movements or seek additional support.
And the best part? You'll actually get up, move, stretch and practise these techniques so you can take them home and feel confident using them during pregnancy and birth.
Part 3 - Preparing Your Mind & Breathing Through Labour
Birth preparation isn't just about your body. Preparing your mind and learning how to work with your breath can be just as valuable.
✓ Understand the connection between fear, tension and pain.
✓ Learn practical breathing techniques to use throughout labour.
✓ Discover ways to calm your nervous system and release tension.
✓ Practise relaxation techniques to help you stay grounded as labour intensifies.
✓ Explore how your birth partner can support you with breathing, reassurance and relaxation.
Part 4 - The Birth Circuit - Your Hands-On Birth Toolkit
This is where we bring everything together!
You'll move through our practical Birth Circuit, exploring and practising a range of tools and techniques that you and your birth partner can use during labour.
You'll get to try:
✓ Optimal Maternal Positioning — Explore positions and movements to support comfort, mobility and baby's positioning.
✓ Rebozo Techniques — Discover how these traditional woven cloths can be used for gentle movement, relaxation and comfort.
✓ TENS Machine — Learn how a TENS machine works, where to position the pads and how it may support pain relief during labour.
✓ Acupressure, Birth Combs & Massage Balls — Explore different tools and pressure points that may support comfort and relaxation.
✓ Birth Sling — Experience how a birth sling can support different labour positions, movement and rest.
You'll have the opportunity to practise these tools with your birth partner, ask questions and discover what feels good for your body.
Helping Birth Partners Feel Confident & Involved
One of the most important parts of our workshop is preparing your birth partner.
Because while you're doing the incredible work of birthing your baby, having someone beside you who understands how to support you can make such a difference.
Rather than wondering what to do when labour begins, your partner will have the opportunity to practise:
✓ Hands-on comfort measures and massage techniques.
✓ Labour positions and movements they can support you with.
✓ Using the TENS machine, rebozo, birth sling and other tools.
✓ Breathing and relaxation techniques.
✓ Ways to offer reassurance, encouragement and practical support throughout labour.
Our goal is for you both to leave feeling like a team, with a shared understanding of how you can work together during birth.
What's Included
✓ A full day of learning with three experienced practitioners.
✓ Practical, hands-on activities and guided movement.
✓ A birth goody bag
✓ A beautifully designed Birth Prep Workbook filled with information, exercises and resources to revisit at home.

Who Is This Workshop For?
Our Birth Prep Workshop is perfect for you if:
✓ You're in your second or third trimester and beginning to prepare for birth.
✓ You want to understand how your body works during labour.
✓ You're looking for practical tools rather than just information.
✓ You want to feel more confident using movement, positioning and breathwork.

Whether you're preparing for your first birth or hoping for a different experience this time around, this workshop is designed to help you feel informed, confident and supported.
Every Birth Is Unique
Birth is not something we can completely predict or control.
Our intention isn't to teach you one particular way to birth, but to give you the knowledge, confidence and practical tools to navigate your own experience, however it unfolds.
Because feeling prepared doesn't mean knowing exactly what will happen. It means understanding your options, trusting your ability to respond and knowing you have support beside you.
Ready to Feel More Prepared for Birth?
Come and spend a day learning, moving, practising and preparing together.
With three experienced practitioners guiding you, you'll leave with a deeper understanding of birth, a toolkit of practical techniques and a birth partner who feels ready to support you.
We can't wait to welcome you to The Village Birth Prep Workshop.
Preparing for your Homebirth
A practical & interactive homebirth preparation workshop
Planning to welcome your baby at home? Let's make sure you feel informed, confident and practically prepared.
There's something incredibly special about preparing to birth your baby in your own home. The familiarity of your surroundings, the freedom to create your own birth space and the opportunity to welcome your baby in an environment that feels completely yours.
But choosing to have a homebirth is just the beginning. Taking the time to really prepare for your homebirth can make such a difference to how confident, informed and supported you feel when labour begins.
Unlike birthing in a hospital, where the space and equipment are already prepared, a homebirth comes with its own practical considerations. What do you need to organise? How do you prepare your birth space? What will your midwife bring? When do you call them? And how can your birth partner feel confident supporting you throughout the experience?
That's exactly why we've created this workshop.
Join an experienced Homebirth Midwife and Birth Doula for a relaxed, practical and interactive evening dedicated entirely to preparing for birth at home.
Together, we'll explore everything from setting up your birth space and understanding your midwifery care to preparing your birth partner, creating your homebirth map and knowing what to expect once your baby arrives.
We'll also explore how to feel informed and supported if anything unexpected comes up along the way.
Because homebirth preparation is about so much more than having everything ready. It's about feeling ready, too.
Our hope is that you and your birth partner leave with a deeper understanding of what to expect, practical knowledge you can put into place at home, and the confidence that comes from feeling truly prepared and supported.

About the Program
Carve Your Path is a small-group developmental wellbeing program designed for boys aged 9–12.
Blending traditional spoon carving with gentle, guided conversations, this program creates a safe and supportive space for boys to explore:
Confidence and identity
Emotional regulation
Respect, boundaries, and consent
Healthy expressions of masculinity
At this age, boys are navigating big changes—socially, emotionally, and developmentally. This workshop offers a grounded, practical way to support them through this stage, with positive male mentoring and hands-on learning.
A Program in Development
This workshop is currently being offered as a pilot 4-session program.
We’re intentionally keeping this first round small and responsive, which means:
The structure may be refined based on group needs
Future offerings may expand (including programs for older boys and men)
Your feedback will help shape how this evolves within The Village
What Makes This Workshop Different
This isn’t a sit-and-listen program.
Each session uses woodworking as the anchor, allowing conversations to unfold naturally — side by side, without pressure.
Boys will:
Learn safe, supervised carving skills
Build patience, focus, and problem-solving abilities
Develop emotional awareness in a non-confrontational way
Practise respectful communication and decision-making
Take home a handcrafted wooden spoon as a symbol of their growth
